B-Sides: Good Friends Great Enemies

FRIENDLY FIRE

Phoenix-based Good Friends Great Enemies are taking a trip down to Tucson to present their jazzy form of indie rock live. With the release of Cautiously Poptimistic late last year, the band's third album promises a more pop inclusive vision, and they certainly deliver. However, what's perhaps most impressive of this LP is the fact that the thing has 15 songs—15 freaking songs and each one offers the band's sweet, decade and genre spanning sound with equal attention and care. If waiting two years for another release from GFGE means another 15 well-crafted tunes, rich with moody sax and noodling guitar riffs, 2017 looks bright for the band.

You don't have to wait until then, though, to see Good Friends Great Enemies. Just head to Sky Bar (536 N. Fourth Ave.) on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. Tucson acts Whoops and The Rifle will be opening and the event is free.
