Re: “AP Follows TW's Lead, Calls CD8 Race for Giffords

I guess an 'honest and straight forward campaign' consists mostly of talking down about your opponent and failing to mention anything positive about what you plan to do. I am not a couch potato, but when I did see campaign ads (Which even if you only watch a limited amount of TV, it's near impossible to watch even just the news hours without seeing 20 campaign ads. Most of which were actually his. Perhaps coincidence, but it's just what I personally witnessed during my daily upkeep on current events.) I, not one single time, saw him saying what he planned to do better or for that matter, what he planned to do at all. Not to say that I saw all the ads he had, just that the only things I did see were about what Gabrielle Giffords has been doing and doing horribly wrong. For example: Saying she voted with Pelosi and Obama so and so amount of the time. Well a little common sense would tell me of course she did, democrats tend to vote with other democrats. Doesn't really seem like a smear there, just more of a common sense, "Duh."
Now granted, I am not planning to run for office, but in my 'what if' situation I would want to win the people by speaking of the good I hoped to accomplish and what I was going to bring to the table. If you're a good candidate (If there is such a thing) you should be able to win by discussing yourself, your visions, hopes and dreams, not trying to win by portraying yourself as being the better of the worst and saying "At least I'm not her!"
IMHO
