America: From Freedom to Fascism
If the hysterical title didn’t tip you off, this is another documentary-as-rant. Some interesting stuff about the origin of taxation in the United States is mixed with woo-woo conspiracy theories and an increasingly shrill tone. Too bad, because just this week, the government eliminated habeas corpus, which is really and truly all that stands between democracy and totalitarianism. Maybe some day, they’ll make a movie about that, and then they’ll get tossed in jail, and we’ll never be allowed to discuss it again. Until then, there are a few good tidbits in here if you can stand the whiny and paranoid tone.
