Wizardbard if you truly cared about enforcing our laws, dont forget to also write your congressmen and let him know that the state of Arizona in its misguided efforts in trying to stop illegal immigration they TOO have overstepped their boundaries and currently under investigation and being sued by many groups in an economy that is already hurting. I have no problem if the police asks me for my id, I never have but the real problem I have with this new law is that you have given the state and local police the right to ask for ones legal status if you are perceived to be under suspicion or better yet (driving while brown). I have cousins who are light skinned with green eyes and friends who are canadian are you going to let them slip through the cracks. I too believe something needs to be done about ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION but I feel the state has totally gone the wrong way about it, if the state would have just came out and said that the new law will give the authority to ask of everyones legal status to be here, alot of the headaches would of simply been prevented.

Because if the businesses dont hire them they cant eat. All the mexicans I know work hard for what they own. I cant recall if I've ever seen a mexican standing on street corners asking for money or sleeping under bridges. If you give the state and local police the right to ask for ones legal status then it should be asked of ALL, colors and races. I have cousins who are light skinned with green eyes and friends who are canadian are you going to let those slip through the cracks as well.

    After Effects of SB1070 Passing:
Legal Hispanic population will start boycotting Arizona. Black people will also be targeted of the law because there are many dark colored Hispanics. This is like the Racial Law in Italy and Germany passed in 1922. Joe Arpajo proposer of Bill and head of the White Supremacist Group. Immediate effects of Bill – Negative impact on economy, negative impact on tourism, Mexican President Calderon has asked tourists no to visit Arizona. South American countries are starting to discuss how to boycott tourism to Arizona as well. Europe travel agencies are cancelling trips to Arizona as well. Trade is also being affected, American companies are also cancelling trade agreements with Arizona. Sports- 1/3 of NFL and MLB players are latinos and have already started to boycott. The relationship between cops and population will suffer as well with risks of increased crime rate. Civil Rights Law suits will weigh down on the already bad economy. Arizona was the last state in the union to recognize Martin L. King holiday and the only reason why they did at the end was because they were being overwhelmed with being boycotted. For every action there is a consequence. I too believe something should be done with illegal immigration but to give the authority to police to ask for ones legal status simply because driving while brown is totally rediculous and racist. The state should make tougher laws against employers who hire illegals.
