Originally broadcast on PBS, the Women of Tibet documentary series arrives at the Loft Cinema to celebrate the International Women’s Day centenary. A Quiet Revolution centers on Ground Zero for all Tibetans: the Tibetan uprising of 1959. The resistance began years before, and the aftershocks are still felt today. A Quiet Revolution examines the strength of Tibetan women who were forced to flee their homeland to survive, and how they held families and communities together despite so many great unknowns. The film also charts the course of generations of descendents—women who, despite not being born or having lived in Tibet, have a strong spiritual and emotional sense of where home truly is.
