Re: “Yacht Rock Party Combines the Love of White Wine Spritzers and a Very Specific Style of Music at La Cocina

Thanks for catching that Rancho Snob. It was a typo on my part. It is two types of Chenin Blanc (10% each) for a total of 20% Chenin Blanc. But I do like the idea of chalking it up to shattered dreams!

Re: “Best Farmers Market

This thread is really ugly. There is enough room for lots of farmers' markets in Tucson. I think everyone is forgetting the most important thing here: connecting consumers to local food purveyors, farmers, ranchers, etc. Honestly I think a lot of people who voted for St. Phillips were actually voting for Heirloom FM, since it takes a while for people to realize changes. This is especially suspicious since Heirloom FM doesn't make it on the list at all. Politics aside, Heirloom is definitely one of the best farmers markets if not the best. FoodInRoot is growing and a decent farmers' market too. I respect anyone who is trying to make a farmers' market happen. Nobody gets into this to get rich. I am happy to see them do well too.

All that aside, the comment about "the Mexican" is very off color. Whatever argument you might have had, I cannot take a bigot seriously. Do you realize where you live? Do you realize that our culinary tradition here is due to Mexico? You really should move away. Our region is beautiful, and part of the reason I love it is the proximity to Mexico and the wonderful people who come from there. The ugliness about the border mostly comes from bigots and I wish you would all go away.

Re: “Glitter From Uranus

GourdHead, I don't mean to say life sucks. I was a few Goldschlagers in when I said that, so I wasn't concise. I love life. A lot. I meant to imply that life can be tough sometimes, lots of work, and looking at it head on can sometimes be a chore. My point was that a life without fun is not worth living. I DO sincerely distrust people who don't have fun and laugh at themselves. I hope that clears up what I meant to say. People need more than just their daily chores to get by. They need fantasy. They need fun.

I also want to clear up that the article focuses on me a little too much regarding Edible. It would not be what it is without also Doug Biggers (THE publisher), Megan Kimble (our managing editor), Steve McMackin (our graphic designer), Gary Nabhan (Edible's "weird uncle" and editorial consultant) our sales reps and the countless writers, photographers and artists who contribute.

Re: “Wash. Legislator Calls Arizona A "Racist Wasteland" After His Football Team Lost

I am from that neck of the woods. Trust me, they have just as many racists as Arizona, maybe more.
