Re: “Tucson Salvage

I see him almost daily and am so glad you wrote so eloquently about your encounter. I'm more glad there is a resource for him, a place where he can be safe and taken care of even in a minimalist kind of way.

Re: “Guest Opinion

My greyhounds and I will follow Steve K. anywhere. He was a one man band like a dog to a bone in pointing the finger at the Tucson Greyhound Park atrocities. Mercifully, that hell hole ended live dog racing on June 25, 2016. And for that I'm thankful as I'm sure are the 252 dogs that left the track and went into adoptive homes. Another 150 or so went to racing servitude elsewhere and some went to an Orange County blood bank as blood donating captives for 1 or 2 years.

Steve also has common sense regarding guns, the Broadway expansion and bringing more movie and TV filming into Pima County to fill our hotels, restaurants and economy.

He's got my vote.

Re: “Media Watch

Hate to see you go, hope it was your decision. Your column was always so chock full of interesting info and gossip. You lasted a long time under the new regime. I wish you well in all your endeavors.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Welcome back. In your September 2007 article you wrote:

"Greyhound racing's inherent cruelty resides not in its overt brutality, as in pit bull fighting, but in the shroud of secrecy that surrounds it. "

Guess what? That dog racing cesspool is still operating and in more secrecy than ever. Nothing has changed except it's gotten far worse.

Here's more restaurant altruism - Dine Out for Greyhound Adoption - August 19 at Feast Restaurant. Feast will give back 20% when you present a flyer. Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption (SA Greys) has paid $65,000 to fix broken legs and extraordinary injuries from dogs leaving the track - please support their efforts - http://blog.sagreyhoundadoption.org/2014/0…

John C. Scott does have another gig. He is the Operations Manager and Track Announcer at Tucson Greyhound Park - http://tucsongreyhound.com/about-the-track…

Re: “Media Watch

Tim Vanderpool's Current column was one of the two reasons I read the Weekly. He wasn't afraid to cover and expose the nitty gritty of what's happening in Tucson. I don't see anyone else covering those topics since his absence. Personally, I want to thank him for educating the masses about the horrific "sport" call greyhound racing. He was doggedly reported about the many ills and injustices at Tucson Greyhound Park.

Also what happened to Dave Devine? I don't see him in Currents any more either?
