I publicly and personally endorsed Betts weeks ago after meeting her and think she will be a strong addition to the TUSD board. She is a parent and advocate focused on student achievement and protecting our schools.
Cami approached me while in the process of filling out my ballot, and took a picture. I was not through voting, yet was enthused to support a friend and colleague of many years.
I have sent my endorsement of Betts to my listserve which includes over 1,000 local residents and civic-minded friends. Reaching out to the folks I know and voicing my support for a candidate means much more to me than a misinterpreted photo posted on facebook.
I apologized to Betts for the confusion, and think that your reading of the matter is unfortunate. I hope in the future if an issue like this arises, you would be willing to call and inquire about the matter for a complete look at the facts. Betts will make a great school board member, and I’m proud to support her.
