I get the sense Vanderpool’s source may have led him to believe he was on to something juicy, but by the time he found out this was a non-story, he was too invested to do anything but try to make lemonade out of it.
Despite the commentary from individuals attempting to explain what deeper meaning this might have, the bottom line is that we end up with a story about an agency’s personnel not following proper coordination procedures, and the director writing a courteous letter of apology.
