I'm glad that retired federal officials are finally able to open up about Border isues. It is too bad that while they were in service that the higher ups would not listen to them but rather muzzle them. To me illegal is still illegal and if our agents and federal land managers are not allowed to tell the truth then I think our politicians are in on the take.
I am sorry but I still believe that the US Forest Service should approve the mine. Our NIMBY's want copper, oil and timber but not from their back yard. So where do you propose we acquire the natural resources from? Oh I know, let us buy it from our enemies overseas and pay through the nose for commodities the US needs. At least in the US, we do have better safe guards concerning the environment than do foreign countries.
Since the wall went up around Sasabe, the number of human caused fires has reduced dramatically along with untold hundreds of illegals coming into the US. I guess the bottom line is do you want a secure border or are we more concerned about the wildlife than what is happening to our country? I am sadden by the fact that our congressional leaders cannot come up with a comprehensive immigration plan that could help reduce the need for more fencing.
It is time to approve the Operation & Mining Plan for Rosemont Copper. This debate has been going on since the late 1970's with multiple EA's & EIS's completed for Rosemont Canyon. The NIMBY's (not in my back yard), are as most indicate, just stalling for time, thus spending more of our tax dollars to help the Forest Service fend off the many delays and appeals. The conservation groups will make a killing with appeals adding more money to their war chest when the federal land management agencies can't reply in a timely manner to their demands.
It seems to me the NIMBYs have put the environment first ahead of jobs and a chance to reduce our dependency on foreign coutries. It is funny that the environmentalists can put the envrironment first and yet a new unborn fetus second in their protests.
Thumbs up for Paul Cragle's comments concerning more votes for Obama. He is right on. So what if states are adding additional laws to help with curbing the influx of undocumented individuals. Don't the states have other laws that mirror the Federal Government? We as Americans turned our backs to influx of visitors when the economy was fat and happy. Now we are paying the price for allowing the illegals to storm across our Borders.
Bob Dane is right, we need to dry up the magnets in the US that keep attracting drug use and illegal hiring of workers. We need to beef up law enfocement in the interior of the US, because that is where the illegals go. They don't stay along the Border. People ask me if I'm scared by living near the Border? I say heck no, the illegals are coming to your town. ICE is working hard to arrest illegals, but the bleeding hearts are yelling foul play. Give me a break. If you don't want illegals, then get a job helping the farmer or the hotel owner needing workers. Oh I forgot, Americans make to much on welfare. Bob Dane is right about the fence curbing illegal border travel, but it is not the utlitmate answer.
If it were not for mining, our country would not be as well off as it is now. So, where do your propose that our Country get the minerals needed to keep our computers, cars, electrical appliances going? Then people are screeming that there are no jobs to be had. Just think of all the jobs the Wildcat or the Rosemont Mines will employ? Oh I'm sorry, you have your dream house and land already while the rest of us do without. The Forest Service should have signed the land exchange for the Rosemont Area in the early 80's. They were just one signature away from approving the Rosemont Land Exchange then. Now look how much money the tax payers are wasting on excessive NEPA documentation.
