    Re: “Bad Apple?
VOTE NO - PROP 123 on May 17th at the POLLS or via EARLY BALLOT. Former Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Stanley Feldman stated in his Special to the Arizona Daily Star op ed: "Prop. 123 may well violate the congressional act that enabled Arizona to become a state and that created the trust." The State Treasurer along with former State Treasurers (except Ducey) oppose Prop 123 so that assets of the State Land Trust Permanent Endowment Fund are protected for the long term. Legal challenges are SIGNIFICANT, so in essence, by passing PROP 123, Arizona voters will be trading one lawsuit for another with zero money going to K-12 schools. DeWit has offered to share with the courts--due to the historic influx of a State Budget Surplus-- an alternate settlement on May 18th after voters deem PROP 123 null and void. The League of Women Voters is opposing PROP 123. http://lwvaz.org/wp-content/uploads/NR-No-…

Fed up with the direction the AZ State Government is taking our beloved state -- the place we call home? Wonder why they are feeding private prisons instead of public education? There are more than a few who wish to halt the madness. Entrepreneur and business professional Senate LD 26 candidate Cheryl Cage cares and provides forward minded leadership. Empower yourself to stop Al Melvin!

    1) Make plans to attend a community forum (Wed SEPT 29 @ Catalina Foothills High School Auditorium - CANDIDATE FORUM from 6:30P-9P)
    2) write a letter to the editor, encourage an 18+ to register to vote by Oct 4
    3) check voting records http://www.arizonaeducationnetwork.com/201…
    4) making a campaign contribution
    5) starting a dialogue with a friend about where tax dollars should be invested
    6) elect qualified individuals to lead as Governor, Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruction

And most importantly. . .VOTE FOR CHERYL CAGE FOR AZ SENATE 2010 & RE-ELECT NANCY YOUNG WRIGHT FOR LD-26 STATE REPRESENTATIVE so that Southern Arizonans' best interests are represented in the State Senate and State House of Representatives. If you don't live within District 26 (portion of the City of Tucson, Tortolita, Marana, Catalina Foothills, Village of Catalina Catalina Foothills), you can still campaign and support Cheryl Cage for State Senate and re-elect Nancy Young Wright for State Representative. Remember to vote for only ONE LD-26 state representative -- no need to vote for two candidates in the three-way LD-26 state representative race, it's a vote against Nancy Young Wright. Just vote once. . .she gets an A+ for her full support to protect state resources to K-12 and state universities in AZ.

More Gridlock at the State Capitol. Thanks to Rep. Frank Antenori (R-District 30) in the State House of Representatives -- the May 18th voter referendum is now in limbo! If the state gov't goes up in flames, don'tcha think the private sector will soon follow??

Arizona leads by far among states with the HIGHEST PERCENTAGE of FY2010 General Budget among states with mid-year budget gaps (almost 20% gap). Our elected officials refuse to focus on state revenue, and instead wish to give additional tax cuts. That ideology of tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy have bankrupted Arizona. We need to raise taxes to balance the budget. We need to elect representatives who have the courage to govern. Take back, Arizona, folks -- this is our home!

State Senator Melvin (District 26) wants WHAT?! More nuclear power plants?! One in the state is one too many. There's none in Southern Arizona. Let's keep it that way.

Melvin has way too much power as the vice-chair of the Arizona State Senate Appropriations Committee.

Folks, you deserve better. Do yourself a favor, Arizona. TUCSON WEEKLY readers, fight the re-election of your state elected officials who do not represent the interests of Southern Arizona. Even those who reside outside of District 26, you need to support Cheryl Cage. And if you do live in District 26 (Village of Catalina, Catalina Foothills, Oro Valley, Marana, Tortolita & a portion of the City of Tucson), get out, speak up and put up a fight. Your support makes a difference. Win back Arizona.
