Eric Johnson: Always A Student

2020 is shaping up to be a busy year for Eric Johnson. The acclaimed guitarist is releasing a new album along with a new signature Fender and embarking on a three-month, 55-date tour throughout North America. But according to Johnson, it all just kind of culminated at the same time. What’s important for the self-proclaimed “tone searcher” is for the music to sound good as ever.

Guitar, Solo

The last time Johnny A.performed in Tucson, he played guitar in the Yardbirds. He’s returning to town as a solo performer, but that’s not to say he’ll be alone on stage. The “Just Me... And My Guitars” tour features Johnny A. covering a wide range of classic British songs from the ’60s, performed with his signature blend of technicality and grooviness, a style accentuated as a solo performer.

All This Jazz

The sixth annual Tucson Jazz Festival will be the first without the guidance of festival artistic director Yvonne Ervin, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018. But rather than ending on a sour note, the Jazz Fest is honoring her legacy by staying strong as ever, featuring international artists, Grammy-winners, and some of the most genre-defining musicians still active today.
