Thank goodness Rene Marie didn't listen to her husband.
UA Presents: Rene Marie.
If this jazz singer's soaring voice and fabulous stage presence aren't enough to leave you feeling inspired, then her story should be. Marie first dipped her toes into the world of music when she took a year of piano lessons at age 9, and then began writing her own music and performing with a band when she was 15. But she married at age 18, had two kids and focused on being a mother until she was 41, when her son encouraged her to start singing again. Her husband gave her an ultimatum: pursue singing or continue being married. She picked singing, and we're glad she did. 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14. Fox Tucson Theatre
, 17 W. Congress St. $20 to $45+
