Noah chimed in on Twitter:
I'm just excited to see the word "evolution" in there.
Comedy Central released a statement following the criticism surrounding Noah's Tweets:
“Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central.”
As I said below, (most of) the Tweets are pretty old. I like to think he'll go on to do good things. Not less bold, but hopefully less douchey. More amusing. More things in the vein of what he's already done
on the show, please. And more
of the Daily Show kicking ass
when people step out
of line. Please
Yesterday, Comedy Central announced
Trevor Noah, a South African comedian who joined the Best F#@king News Team in December, would be taking over as the new host of the Daily Show when Jon Stewart leaves. His appearances
on the show
so far have been pretty funny
and maybe even a little insightful. But you know what can't be described that way? His Twitter
Because making women afraid of your genitals is always a good idea.
Now, those Tweets have been uncovered from several years ago and I'm willing to let this guy prove he's educated himself—he hasn't posted anything online since the Tweets surfaced. But the Daily Show's best clips call out organizations and individuals for being sexist and racist and generally behind the times.
Maybe we should start with cluing Noah and Jamie Foxx
in that it's not cool to make fun of someone for being Trans:
