According to the folks at AuctionAZ, the Bum Steer or what used to be that beer-soaked establishment at 1910 N. Stone Ave., will be auctioned in an online bidding process August 1-6, with a preview on July 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From AuctionAZ:

The restaurant was founded by a group of airline pilots who simply wanted a place to have fun while in town. The Bum Steer was one of several other similar properties the group opened up across the country, including one in Phoenix.

"The Bum Steer has a lot of potential as a brew pub, another bar or a variety of other uses,” said George Cunningham, President and CEO of Cunningham and Assoc., Inc. and AuctionAZ.com. “The land alone is extremely valuable. This is going to be a great deal for whoever ends up buying it."

The Bum Steer officially closed in 2010. Much of the décor inside the restaurant came from the back lot of a Hollywood studio that was closing in the 70s.

“There are still some very valuable Western memorabilia and various antiques attached to the building,” said Leonard Frankel, member of the company that currently owns the property.
