The first annual Sahuarita Pecan Pie Contest is sponsored by Mama’s Hawaiian Barbeque in Sahuarita’s Fry’s Marketplace. Gift certificates and pecans will be awarded, with 1st Place receiving a $100 gift card to the Pecan Store, a $50 gift card to Mama’s Hawaiian Barbecue and complementary pecans. Contest entrants will receive recognition on Facebook, website and during the judging on Nov. 9.

Contest registration forms can be picked up at Mama’s Hawaiian Barbecue, The Pecan Store or online at www.sahuaritapecanfestival.com. The entry fee is $10.00, paid at time of registration. Contestants will also receive a complementary 1 lb. bag of Green Valley Pecans for their pies.

The Facebook Photo Scavenger Hunt will kick off with a series of eight clues for sought-after photos that will be posted to the Green Valley Pecan Facebook page. After deciphering the clues, participants will have until Monday, Nov. 11 to post their photos to the Green Valley Pecan Facebook page. From Nov. 11 to Nov. 15, voting will be underway to determine the winners. The photos of each desired shot with the most “Likes” will win! Each winner will receive a 14 oz. 7-Section Candy Tray, including four delicious flavors: Praline, Cinnamon, Chocolate Covered and the signature Natural Pecans.

The one day fair will begin with the Pecan Classic Nut Run/Walk at 8 a.m. Click here to register. The free to attend family event will have a KID’s Zone, sponsored by Tucson Medical Center. There will be bounce houses, carnival games, petting zoo and pony rides. There will be local food vendors and Borderlands Brewery will be pouring its very special ‘La Morena’ nut-brown beer made with Green Valley pecans.
