Could Kids' PSAs Be the End of Bullying?

Are you a bully, or a bully-ee? Most of us, thankfully, are neither. But a showcase of 30-second PSAs by Tucson kids could make the rest of us the most powerful people of all in bringing about an end to bullying.

"Bystander Empowerment" is the theme of a host of PSAs to be shown at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.

The first 300 youth who show up for the screening get a free T-shirt and a raffle ticket for an iPad. Everyone young and old gets in free, and there's no charge for popcorn and water.

The PSAs were submitted to a contest run by The End of Bullying Task Force of the Fund for Civility, Respect and understanding, the Pima County Attorney's Office and Cox Communications. A grand prize is awarded in each of three age-based categories, and winners are aired on local television. A radio-ready PSA is aired on 94.9 MixFM.

Details of the contest are at endofbullying.com/psa-contest-activities/. Have a look, kids, and start planning your entry for next year.
