We Should Collectively Be Paying More Attention to E-40
I have no idea what I was doing on June 1st that was so important that I missed Bay Area rap legend E-40 at DV8 (there's a very strange YouTube video recapping the show with a SkyNet reference around the 5:25 mark, of all things), but I will make an effort to catch his (likely all too brief) set at Hot 98.3 Summer Jam on the 21st of this month. Although the moment a few years ago when his tracks "Tell Me Where to Go" and "U & Dat" seemed to signal that E-40 was going to grab the mainstream hip-hop fame that his talent and hustle merits didn't last, he's putting out music as good as he has during his twenty year career, with a triple album (?!?) out now which includes "I'm Laced," above.
