I was surprisingly taken aback to hear that Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Hale and master of the G-Funk hook, died yesterday in Long Beach, California, although in the last few years, he had several strokes and some trouble getting back into good health. Still, I'll personally always remember living in the L.A. area in the early part of the 2000's when it seemed like every single song on Power 106 had Nate Dogg on the hook. He did essentially one thing, but he did as smooth as hell on hundreds of songs. I really could have posted a hundred videos where Nate was the best thing on a song, but here are three of my favorites.
Mark Ronson (featuring Ghostface Killah, Nate Dogg, Saigon & Trife) - "Ooh Wee":
213 - "Another Summer":
and of course, Warren G and Nate Dogg - "Regulate":
Nate Dogg died Tuesday night at the age of 41.
