This Weekend's Desert Cup in Photos
While I'm not entirely sure I believe the report that there were over ten thousand people in the stands (my guess was around 8,500 based on what I know about the occupancy of Hi Corbett, but I could definitely be wrong), the first edition of the Desert Cup at Hi Corbett Field seemed like a success. Great attendance, a crowd that seemed to be interested in the games on the field, and two matches on Saturday that went down to the last minute. Sure, there were some minor technical glitches (the announcement that there would be a penalty shootout at the end of the MLS match turned out to be incorrect, with the game ending as a tie), but otherwise, it seems like professional soccer has some future in Tucson.
