From a press release:
Tucson Children’s Museum is offering free admission during their regular hours of 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 15. Unanimously approved by the Museum’s Board of Directors , the day is offered as a way to support all families, explained Board President Dev Sethi.
Museum staff and the Board also wanted to recognize and honor Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was gravely injured in the Saturday mass shooting. “Families and individuals coming to the Museum Saturday can bring a donation of packaged food or a financial contribution to the Community Food Bank’s Gabrielle Giffords Hunger Fund,” said Michael Luria, Executive Director of the Tucson Children’s Museum.
“Smiling, laughing and enjoying a day with your loved ones is especially important at this time,” Luria said. “As part of our community, we want to be an enjoyable outlet to help others impacted by this terrible tragedy.”
In addition to the regular activities at the Tucson Children’s Museum, the Festival of Friendship — MLK celebration will be held that afternoon featuring special dance and musical presentations, story time and arts and crafts projects.
