See the Thermals Tonight! They Don't Hate Arizona!

Based on my slightly unhinged post yesterday, it's probably clear that the idea of bands boycotting Arizona is a sensitive one to me. Thankfully, Portland, Ore., act The Thermals (who are playing Club Congress tonight) brightened my day today and extended hope that bands might overlook the easy way out of a boycott.

The Thermals were booked to play Phoenix's Rhythm Room last night. Before the show, someone tweeted the band asking why they were playing Arizona, and someone from the band responded and then addressed the issue further:

Grund00n:
@thethermals @thesoundstrike JOIN THESE ARTISTS IN THE BOYCOTT OF ARIZONA!

TheThermals: @Grund00n sorry but FUCK THE AZ BOYCOTT. do u want to isolate AZ until only skinhead bands play there? AZ BOYCOTT IS BULLSHIT

TheThermals: BOYCOTT OF AZ IS JUST WRONG. imagine if yr a kid growing up in PHX who likes progressive bands. you are fucking every kid like this in AZ

TheThermals:
bands, if you boycott AZ you are not helping. yr only making shit worse for any decent kids that have to live there. #fuckazboycott

TheThermals:
final thought for the night: silencing yr own voice is only more power to yr enemy. good night hippies! xoxox

TheThermals:
#fuckazboycott madness continues for one more day! then back to CA, a state no one is boycotting despite that it too has many fascist laws!

Thanks, Thermals. They play tonight at Club Congress. The doors are at 7, and tickets are $12 at the door.
