The polls close at 7 p.m. here in Arizona, and the first batch of election results is expected in sometime after 8 p.m.
And that first batch of results will be a biggie, containing the results of early voting—so we'll know a lot with that first batch.
We'll be updating the results here on The Range as they come in. We'll also bring you news, quotes and commentary from our team of reporters at the official Republican and Democratic Election Night parties (at the Doubletree and the Marriott University Park, respectively). We also have some folks heading to other gatherings (like the medical marijuana prop gathering at The Hut and Raul Grijalva headquarters.
Some quick predictions:
— Both CD 7 (Grijalva/McClung) and CD 8 (Giffords/Kelly) will be close—so close that we may not know tonight who wins. On a nationwide basis, the local races may not matter much; CNN's already projecting that the Republicans will win enough seats to take control of the House.
— Rodney Glassman will be lucky to get 40 percent against John McCain.
— The city's Prop 400, which would temporarily increase the sales tax within the city limits, is probably doomed.
— Terry Goddard will lose by at least 8 percentage points to Gov. Jan Brewer. The power of SB 1070.
