Conservatives for Congress Committee Hits Paton in TV Ad

Conservatives for Congress, the independent campaign committee that has recently been taking some swipes at Republican Jonathan Paton in CD8, has a new TV ad that criticizes Paton for hitting a fellow Republican "below the belt." The script follows that radio ad that we wrote about here.

Meanwhile, we hear that another independent campaign committee, Arizonans Working Together, has mailed a hit piece attacking Kelly. We haven't received one yet, but if anyone has a copy they'd like to scan and send our way, we'd be delighted to see it.

Arizonans Working Together, which is evidently a group of deep pockets supporting Paton, has not listed any campaign contributors with the FEC yet.

With one week until Election Day, we're expecting more mud in the days ahead.

UPDATE: We've got a response via email to the Conservatives for Congress ad from Paton spokesman Daniel Scarpinato:

Jonathan thought a caricature in the Weekly was flattering, but a marionette? Wow. If this group's phony push poll were even remotely accurate, why would they still be attacking Jonathan Paton? People who live in glass puppet houses shouldn't throw stones.
