More than 6,000 ballots from city voters came through Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez's office today, bringing the total from the six wards to 38,828. Roughly 30,000 early ballots are still out there; our insiders within county estimate that half of them will turn up at polling places tomorrow.
The big number: Democrats have gotten 18,610 of their 32,498 back in, for a return rate of 57 percent. Republicans have gotten 13,596 of their 21,776 back in, for a return rate of 65 percent.
Independents have mailed in 6,363 of their 13,638 ballots, for a return rate of 47 percent.
We'll be back shortly with more crunched numbers.
NOTE: We've been so focused on the city council race and Prop 200 that that we forgot to mention that the numbers above are just from city voters; we've edited it to make it clear. We apologize for confusing any readers.
