A Helpful Memo From City Manager Mike Letcher

Posted By on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 2:14 PM

Tom Danehy talks about a recent memo on "problem solving" from City Manager Mike Letcher in his upcoming column. Tom points out that one of Letcher's problems seems to be proofreading, if this memo is any indication.

The thrust of the memo: It appears that Letcher and Assistant City Manager Richard Miranda are tired of hearing city staffers complain about problems inside the city's vast bureaucracy.

Letcher writes:

Please do not come to Richard Miranda, Assistant City Manager or me unless you have thought about how to fix the problem...

As leaders, you know that a problem without a solution is not an option. Not only do we need to think about a solution, but also how to realign our systems, processes, structure etc., so that it (the problem) is not likely to occur again.

Check it out yourself: The flow chart is great!
