Hope you weren't hoping to see Dan Quayle at the state GOP's Trunk and Tusk fundraiser. The former VP, advertised as the headliner at the $500-a-plate reception and dinner, has canceled his appearance at the annual chicken and potatoe dinner, citing an unavoidable business conflict that's taking him to Japan.
The Arizona Republic's Political Insider has the standard denial from Quayle's people and the state party that heavy hitters in the business community and congressional delegation—who remain unhappy with state chair Randy Pullen—leaned on Quayle because they want to starve the state party's finances.
