It appeared from a Pima County Sheriff's Department report that a young man chose the wrong time to take a trip to Walgreens.
According to the report, maintenance men had been called to fix a broken mirror in an apartment, which they said they had permission to enter in the event that 18-year-old Graham Fitzpatrick Karber wasn't home. As it turns out, he wasn't.
When the men walked in, they allegedly discovered what appeared to them to be numerous bundles of crystal methamphetamine and a considerable amount of money. There was also an open safe containing more drugs, they said.
One of the maintenance men took pictures of the alleged stash using his cell phone before returning to the main office to call authorities.
While a deputy was waiting outside of the apartment for a counter-narcotics detective to arrive, a cab pulled up. A teenager, later identified as Karber, got out and started walking toward the apartment.
Authorities detained Karber, who said he had been at the drug store picking up some anti-anxiety medication. Karber's nose reportedly started bleeding while he was being held.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and went into the apartment. Initial tests allegedly confirmed that the substance was cocaine--and there was more than 10 ounces of it. Authorities booked Karber into Pima County Adult Detention Center on one misdemeanor and one felony drug charge. He reportedly asked that his anxiety medication be thrown away.
Karber had been living at the complex for about six months, the report stated. Apartment personnel said his parents, both lawyers, had been helping him pay for the property.
The Telltale Steak Stains
Unincorporated Pima County, May 29, 8:20 p.m.
Deputies arrested a man who threw a raw steak at a "sassy" woman, a PCSD report stated.
Authorities arrived at the home of Lance Young and his roommate/girlfriend. (Young said they were roommates; she said they were more than that.) Young, 52, told deputies his roommate refused to help him take care of his dog's injured paw, and that made him "irate." He admitted chucking a piece of raw steak at her in retaliation, charging her with being "sassy."
Young also admitted drinking earlier in the day, the report said.
The 38-year-old victim said she had been sitting on the couch when Young, her live-in boyfriend, threw the steak at her. He was angry that she had been eating his pizza, the woman said.
There were blood smears on the woman's white T-shirt and on the couch.
Deputies arrested Young on a domestic violence charge and booked him into Pima County Adult Detention Center.
