Strike A Pose

Speedway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue, April 28, 1:02 a.m.

A man failed his field sobriety tests in a decidedly theatrical manner, according to a University of Arizona Police Department report.

An officer stopped Justin Lawson Bishop, 21, for allegedly driving the wrong way down a one-way street. The report noted that Bishop slurred his speech and had red, watery eyes. His breath also reportedly smelled of alcohol.

An officer asked Bishop some questions prior to performing sobriety tests. When asked when he started and finished drinking, Bishop allegedly shook his head and said, "You're going to fuck me." The officer also asked Bishop if there were any reasons that would prevent him from successfully completing the tests. Bishop reportedly replied, "Yeah, I'm getting fucked. You can quote that."

Bishop allegedly "extended his arms out to his sides, parallel to the ground, palms up and then walked like a model on a runway" during the walk and turn sobriety test, the report stated.

He also lifted his left foot, bending the knee at a 90-degree angle, and extended his arms out to his sides when attempting to do the one-leg stand, the report alleged. The officer noted the pose was reminiscent of one found in the film The Karate Kid.

Two breath tests reportedly showed Bishop's blood alcohol concentration was .235 and .225, well above the legal limit of .08. Authorities charged Bishop with driving the wrong way down a one-way street, with possessing expired vehicle registration and with three criminal DUI counts--including extreme DUI for having a blood alcohol level greater than .15.

Acts Of Terrorism

Interstate 10 and Kolb Road, May 29, 4:42 p.m.

A woman allegedly admitted slapping another woman who had turned on a fan in an apartment-complex clubhouse, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.

The woman reporting the incident said she had gone into the clubhouse to work out when she ran into Linda Pinsky Dreher, who she said was on the exercise bike and has a penchant for hanging out in the clubhouse for hours.

The woman alleged that Dreher told her it was "tough" if she wanted the fan on, and then Dreher slapped her in the face after she flipped it on regardless.

Dreher told a deputy she couldn't have the fan on for allergy reasons and accused the woman of trying to provoke her. She also reportedly said the woman "stuck her chin out like a terrorist" and that terrorist activity must be stopped before it starts. No clarification for those statements was given in the report.

Dreher reportedly said she slapped the woman in order to stop the so-called terrorist activity. The deputy arrested her on an assault charge.
