Worst Week Ever

Sunrise Drive and Swan Road, Dec. 13, 7:05 a.m.

A woman who was having her house remodeled was "quite upset" after it was burglarized for the third time in one week, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.

The burglar reportedly took a computer worth $2,500. She also showed deputies an open safe in her closet where she kept credit cards, her passport and $100,000 worth of jewelry--all of which were missing, the report said.

A deputy noted that a sliding-glass door leading into the house was installed backwards, with the locking mechanism facing outside. The woman had reportedly tried to reinforce the door against entry using a wood plank, but the plank was lying on the ground nearby.

The woman, who was staying in a house next door to the burglarized dwelling, said she saw maintenance workers from a nearby apartment complex leaving the area just before she discovered the crime.

Deputies interviewed one such worker who had a blue crowbar-like instrument. They also took pictures of his shoes to see if they matched footprints found in the desert around the home.

There was no further information at the time of the report.

Everything's Just Dandy

River Road and La Cholla Boulevard, Dec. 17, 2:18 a.m.

A man yelled to witnesses that his wife was perfectly fine after she ran out of the house moments earlier screaming for help, a PCSD report said.

Witnesses said the woman ran into the street screaming for help, and then went back into her residence. "A short time later, a male emerged yelling that she did not need help, that she was fine and that she was overreacting," the report said.

The woman also said the man, who she identified as her "live-in boyfriend," pushed her down some stairs as she was leaving the home. She told deputies that the fight started because he had been "interrogating" her just like her father used to, asking the same question over and over.

Deputies arrested the man on a charge of domestic violence. A records check also showed he had two warrants out for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for driving with a suspended license.
