A guy handled everything very politely, calmly and casually when he was cited for smoking weed in a parked car, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report said.
A resident of the foothills area called the PCSD to report that he'd seen a suspicious-looking car parked across the street from him, in a lot owned by his neighborhood association. He said he'd seen the vehicle there three times previously and thought whoever was in it was either "doing drugs" or "making out."
When a sheriff's deputy knocked on the car's window, a man rolled it down, letting out a definitive smell of marijuana smoke. He rolled down the window and exited the car when asked, admitting the smell was indeed from marijuana and he didn't have a medical marijuana card. He said he'd smoked in the car earlier but not recently (though he was just about to).
Asked why the subject was in that particular parking lot. The deputy asked his friend lived down the street but didn't want him in his house—so the man just liked to park and "chill" in that location, smoking weed and playing games on his phone when sked why he wasn't smoking weed in his own house, the subject said he "did not know."
When the deputy called a backup unit to the location to search the vehicle, the subject immediately revealed the location of the drugs and said to "just go get the marijuana since he just wanted this to be over with so he could get out of there."
The two deputies now on scene found it—along with a pipe and a grinder, which the subject also warned them would be inside—and confiscated it, as requested.
Since the subject didn't seem impaired at all, evidently indeed not having smoked marijuana recently, he was allowed to peacefully leave the scene after being cited.
