Tucson Tortilla Festival
The Second Annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta, as well as FIRST annual Tortilla Festival are taking place on (oddly enough) May 4 at Presidio San Agustín del Tucson, 133 W. Big Thangs Poppin'
Chefs David Valencia and Brian Smith are throwing an ultra-cool pop up restaurant called Sanar on Monday, May 12 at Agustin Kitchen at 7 p.m. It is a 15 (ONE FIVE ... that is not a typo) course meal with pairings. The Simple Crown
The Coronet (cor·o·net, noun. 1. a small or relatively simple crown, esp. as worn by lesser royalty and peers) is officially open. The Coronet is located at 402 E. Ninth St., in the historic Coronado building. Owner Sally Kane, describes the concept as "food that makes us happy," and stating "Brasserie style restaurant, old-world rustic cuisine, cute yet full bar, quiet music, big patio, good shade, outstanding coffee" on their website. They use all fresh ingredients, and make their take on traditional recipes, from all sorts of cuisines, completely from scratch. An example menu item is baked tofu, with poached egg, house-made kimchi, kale over brown rice. The Coronet also offers a mean Saturday and Sunday brunch.
