More Beer!

I love fall for many reasons, but none more so than all the beer events in Oktoberfest season. The 27th Great Tucson Beer Festival will be held from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way. The event includes samples of brews from across the Southwest, music, games and something called static steer roping. This is a 21-and-older event, with tickets priced from $25 to $90. The annual SalsaFest along Arizona's Salsa Trial is celebrating the ever-so-popular condiment in Safford on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28. Events include a salsa challenge, a jalapeño eating competition, Chihuahua races and a car show, but sadly, no salsa dancing. It might be a bit of drive for Tucsonans, but admission is free. Eat With the Dead

Tucson Botanical Gardens celebrates the Day of the Dead with a "Feast with the Dearly Departed." The event includes Sonoran fare along with mariachis, sugar skulls, luminarias, kids' activities and workshops. It all goes down from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 to 12 ($4 for members and $2 for their child guests). Visit

Rum and Food, Mon

Saint House Rum Bar, 256 E. Congress St., has expanded its dining and drinking hours and is now serving food until midnight seven days a week. The full menu will be available, including taro chips and banana ketchup, rum-glazed chicken, Caribbean tacos, coconut shrimp and salads. The bar is now open until 2 a.m. on weekends.
