Sahuarita Pecan Festival

Life can be completely nuts, especially if you make it down to Sahuarita this weekend. Now in its second year, the Sahuarita Pecan Festival highlights the many mouth-watering uses of the town’s locally grown pecans while offering an impressive lineup of live music, fun runs, kids’ activities and vendors. There will be fry bread with pecans, chocolate-dipped bananas covered in pecans, pecan horchata, pecan pies, wine and much more. The festival starts around 9 a.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 20 and 21, in front of Green Valley Pecan at 1625 E. Sahuarita Road. Admission is free; parking is $3. Skrambles Café: The Eggsperts

A new breakfast and lunch place called Skrambles Café: The Eggsperts has opened in the old Cibaria Cucina Italiana spot at 12985 N. Oracle Road in Oro Valley. According to the restaurant’s website, skrambles.com, the restaurant strives to redefine “the humble egg into fascinating dishes,” and a look at the menu leads us to believe they may just do it. Colombian Chow

Sabor Tropical at 1929 E. Grant Road hosts a benefit dinner featuring traditional Colombia foods from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19. Organizer Emerita Garcia said traditional dishes like tamales and chicken-and-rice will be served, and that take-home items will be available as well. The $12 suggested donation benefits Comedores Populares, a group that provides food for refugee children in Colombia. Call 400-8262 for more information.


Farmers’ Market Grand Opening

Chef Doug Levy of Feast gives a Thanksgiving-themed cooking demonstration at the grand opening of the Tucson Farmers’ Market East at Jesse Owens Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19. The celebration will also have live music, giveaways and the usual assortment of organic produce and products. Jesse Owens Park is located at 400 S. Sarnoff Drive; 882-2157.


Le Delice Bakery and Café Is Back

Several readers contacted us to report that Le Delice Bakery and Café had closed, but the closing was temporary. The original owners, Maurice and Nicole Cochard, have taken control of the business at 7245 E. Tanque Verde Road, and it will be reopening Friday, Nov. 19. Call 290-9714 for more information.
