Blue Willow Turns 30

The Blue Willow restaurant, gift shop and bakery, a Tucson institution, celebrates its 30th anniversary on June 10. Family-owned since 1978, the Blue Willow serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and that fabulous chocolate cake on one of the best patios around--and the interior's cozy, too. From June 9-15, order two featured dinner entrées with dessert for $30. During the entire month of June, appetizers are half off with the purchase of a bottle of wine--and that yummy chocolate sour cream cake is only $2 per slice at 2616 N. Campbell Ave.; 327-7577.

One Harvest

On May 5, It's a Grind, a coffeehouse franchise with 100 units in 14 states, launched One Harvest, a humanitarian business partnership with coffee workers in three countries: Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Guatemala. Workers are paid a fair-market price for their coffee and receive grants to help pay for medical and dental services for them and their children. Find the three full-bodied One Harvest varieties at 8260 N. Cortaro Road, Marana, 744-1784; 7805 N. Oracle Road, Oro Valley, 469-7400; and coming soon to Plaza Antigua (the shopping center with Trader Joe's at Campbell Avenue and Limberlost Road).

National Doughnut Day

The first Friday in June is National Doughnut Day, which originated during World War I, when Salvation Army women would make doughnuts for the troops. On Friday, June 6, Mom and Pop Donut Shop will donate 15 percent from all donut sales to the Salvation Army. The shop opens at 6 a.m. at 7854 E. Wrightstown Road; 721-6611.
