Noshing Around

New: Zinburger

Fox Restaurant Concepts plans to open its newest concept on Monday, Dec. 17, in the former Bistro Zin location at Joesler Village, 1865 E. River Road. The menu will offer four different kinds of burgers: Angus beef, Kobe beef, free-range turkey and veggie, plus salads. Side orders cost extra; one side is hand-cut fries drizzled with truffle oil--that sounds provocative. Rounding out the menu are unusually flavored milkshakes, desserts, microbrews and, of course, wine. Zinburger is open daily from 11 a.m. Reservations are not accepted; 299-7799.

Naughty and Nice

On Thursday, Dec. 20, the Level Bar Lounge hosts a winter pajama party, and 100 percent of all door proceeds will be donated to Casa de los Niños, a local charity committed to preventing child abuse and neglect that helps thousands of children and families in Pima County. The event requires a minimum donation of $5 or any packaged children's toy. All additional donations are accepted and greatly appreciated at 4280 N. Campbell Ave., in St. Philip's Plaza;615-3835. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Iron Chef Tucson

Last year Acacia's Albert Hall beat Jonathan Landeen (Jonathan's Tucson Cork) for the title of Iron Chef Tucson. Who will challenge Hall in 2008? You decide. Go vote at ironcheftucson.com. There are eight worthy opponents, including one woman. Voting will continue until midnight on Dec. 18; only one vote per e-mail address. The winner will be announced Dec. 19, with the actual competition held Sunday, Jan. 20, at Desert Diamond Casino.

Primavera

Five locations will serve Christmas meals this year, and hot main and side dishes, desserts and drinks will need to be dropped off and/or served. Other needs include men's socks, toothbrushes, disposable razors, gloves, deodorant sticks, men's underwear and bars of soap. Please contact Jenny to donate at 623-5111, ext. 102.

Rumors and Doors Closing

Rumors abound that the Cheesecake Factory will be coming to the Tucson Mall later this year, along with Kona Grill and the Yard House. Both T.G.I. Friday's on 5055 N. Oracle Road and Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant at 1800 E. Fort Lowell Road closed.
