Coming Soon

Tucson's restaurant scene continues to evolve: Zinburger, formerly Zin Bistro, is scheduled to open around mid-November; Guadalajara Grill East will fill the former Ferranti's Fine Foods at 6616 E. Grant Road; Sushi Garden will open another location in the former J Nippon at the Foothills Mall; and Shlomo's and Vito's New York Delicatessen will hold court at Plaza Colonial, located at Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue.

Status Quo Remains at Feast

Several weeks ago, I reported that Feast was going to move to a larger space with more parking in another midtown location. They were trying to move to the Old Peking location on Speedway Boulevard, just east of Tucson Boulevard. But at the 11th hour, Doug Levy discovered that the restaurant sits less than 300 feet from a charter school, which would nullify the possibility of moving Feast's liquor license, because not only does Feast serve wine, but they also sell their extraordinary selection by the bottle to go. So for now, Feast is staying put.

Open Sesame

58 Degrees and Holding Co. at Williams Center and St. Philip's Plaza have opened for lunch with a new chef and menu; 747-5858 and 299-5804.

Gift Certificates

The Tucson Originals restaurants create a buying frenzy when they offer gift certificates online that are discounted by 30 to 40 percent. For instance, pay $15 for an Eclectic Café gift certificate, and you can use it for $25 worth of food. Or pay $35 for a Terra Cotta gift certificate, and order $50 worth of food. On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 26, visit, and click on gift certificates. Quantities are limited and sell quickly.

Catting Around

On Friday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m., Chipotle Mexican Grill on University Boulevard and Park Avenue is giving away one free menu item (burrito, order of tacos, salad, or burrito bowl) to students, faculty and staff who are in possession of a CatCard. The free burrito pep rally is in hope of a Wildcats' football victory over the Washington State Cougars on Sept. 29.
