Noshing Around

Chopped Up

The second Chopped restaurant, featuring fresh, made-to-order salads, opened April 22 at 4205 N. Campbell Ave., next to Trader Joe's. Customers can select from more than 50 ingredients and 20 dressings to create their own salad, and can eat on the pet-friendly patio. Call 319-CHOP for more info.

Sushi Rollover

Yuki's Sushi at 7153 E. Tanque Verde Road is now Sushi-Hama East. Both Sushi-Hama at 3971 N. Oracle Road and Sushi Ten at 4500 E. Speedway Blvd., as well as Sushi-Hama East, are under new ownership. General Manager Tony Wolter said what you loved about all three restaurants remains the same; it's business as usual. Sushi-Hama East serves all-you-can-eat sushi for $19.95 and is open Monday-Saturday for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and daily for dinner 5 to 10 p.m.

Closed

A Noshing reader alerted us that Rhythmmm, a fairly new restaurant in midtown, took down its sign. Their answering machine says they closed Feb. 28 and would reopen. With the sign gone, who knows? The reader said, "I always feel sad that some places open and close before I get a chance to try them out." New restaurants struggle, so give them a try sooner vs. later.

The Big Chill

As temperatures soar into the 90s, our minds race about how to keep cool this summer. A class in the Pima Community College brochure caught my eye. An ice-carving workshop, taught by Tom Gerlak, owner of Ice T, will take students through the process of making, storing and carving into pieces of art 300-pound blocks of ice. The first class is June 3 and costs $25. Call 206-6468 to register.

Zin, Blues and BBQ

On Sunday, April 30, Hacienda del Sol hosts an outdoor party featuring live blues with the Grams and Krieger Band and Stefan George, a mega zinfandel wine tasting and a barbecue feast. The fifth annual event happens from 4 to 7 p.m. and costs $50 per person. Call 529-3500 to reserve. Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort is located at 5601 N. Hacienda del Sol Road.
