Noshing Around

Dine Out for Safety

For the 10th straight year, Tucsonans will eat out for a great cause at the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault's (SACASA) signature event on Wednesday, April 26. Thirty-six local independent restaurants are participating, with up to 20 percent of the bill donated to the nonprofit organization. For a list of participating restaurants, visit www.dineoutforsafety.org. SACASA provides a bilingual and bicultural 24-hour crisis line, hospital advocacy, crisis intervention, specialized mental-health services and community outreach.

High-Flying Food: Part Two

The food and beverage concessions at Tucson International Airport will soon be under new leadership. Philadelphia-based OTG Management is required to make a minimum capital investment of $2.75 million in the space, totaling 11,723 square feet. In the west concourse (United and Delta) will be CIBO Market, Carmella's Kitchen (selling pizza), Boar's Head Deli (made-to-order and grab-and-go sandwiches and salads) and SKY Asian Bistro, a sushi bar and full-service restaurant. In the east concourse (Southwest and American), the locally owned Taco Bron will share the space with Arizona Sports Grill, Boar's Head Deli and Cheeburger Cheeburger (sounds like a Saturday Night Live skit).

Mac in the Middle

The second-largest casual restaurant operator in the United States, Brinker International Inc., has signed an agreement to take its Romano's Macaroni Grill to the Middle East. Macaroni Grill is already in 238 locations (with two in Tucson), including six foreign countries. The deal will put Macaroni Grill eateries in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Relive Woodstock

On Saturday, April 29, from 5:30 to 10 p.m., the Westward Look Resort hosts Weststock--a Woodstock revival. So let the good times roll with three bands (one imitating the great Janis Joplin), a beer garden, wine, grilling concessions and working portable toilets (so says the press release). Tickets cost $15 and are available in advance at the resort's gift shop for chair seating, or at the door for open lawn seating; 245 E. Ina Road; 297-1151.
