Noshing Around

Yama

Newly opened at 5425 N. Kolb Road just south of Sunrise, the sleek décor features modern Zen ambience. Yama specializes in fine Japanese dining with an emphasis on Kobe beef, shabu-shabu, sushi and 110 wines and sakes. Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 615-1031.

Kobe Beef

Wouldn't you rather be Kobe beef than an Oscar Meyer wiener? Ah, to be massaged with sake and fed a special hormone-free diet with plenty of beer. And then there's Kobe Bryant, but no one wants to be in his shoes right now.

Local Culinary Entrepreneurs

Husband and wife Andrew and Denise McCreery are growing their hobby of making wine and spirit jellies into a fledgling business called Heavenly Spreadables. You can find their four flavors--black pepper merlot, raspberry rosé, tequila lime with habanera and apple chardonnay--at St. Phillip's Plaza farmer's market and arts and crafts fairs around town. They also offer local delivery for $5. HeavenlySpreadables.com.
