Stephanie Fries has been a voice on the local radio scene for more than two decades. Fries has deejayed for Power 1490 Tucson and 94.9 MixFM and is currently at 96.1 KLPX. The Pennsylvania native hosts KLPX's half-hour public access show, Lifestyle Tucson, at 8 a.m. on Sundays. Fries' interview subjects have ranged from famous musicians such as Ziggy Marley and Tom Jones to local community heroes. When Fries isn't spinning classic rock, she's practicing jin shin jyutsu on people and animals.

What was the first concert you attended?

Doobie Brothers. The Outlaws opened for them at the Greater Allentown Fairgrounds Stadium.

What are you listening to these days?

Holly Williams' "The Highway"; One Eskimo; the Black Keys; and of course classic rock.

What was the first album you owned?

David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?

Rap. I have tried to like it but it just doesn't touch my soul.

What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?

I would have loved to have seen the Traveling Wilburys ... all that talent coming together to make music!

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

Singing along with Patsy Cline. Every time I listen to her greatest hits CDs, I hear nuances that I didn't hear before. She was amazing.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

"For a Dancer" ... Jackson Brown.

What artist changed your life and how?

Janis Joplin. One of my older sisters had her greatest hits LP. I learned every song, loved every note and I learned that the girls can rock just as good as the guys ... I was 7.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Counting Crows ... August and Everything After.How about Miles Davis, Kind of Blue?
