Cannon Daughtrey, 28, grew up on a tobacco and peanut farm in the Deep South (Lenox, Ga., with a population of less than 1,000). She currently lives in Tucson and works in cultural resource management as an archaeologist. She once shoveled more than 1,000 pounds of dirt to clear a Late Archaic period site near Douglas of cultural materials before the border fence was built. She aspires to find a gold nugget in a Nevada mine, eat raw salmon directly from an Alaskan stream and somehow use her olfactory sense professionally, either as a sommelier or fishmonger.

The Labyrinth original soundtrack, tight pants.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?
Lucinda Williams. The grit and raw anger of her voice, paralleled by abrasive and vulnerable lyrics, is lovely, relevant and relatable. Plus, I'm a Southerner.
