Nine Questions

Guitarist Samir Shehab (Musica Obscura, The Daring Few) is finishing medical school in May and may be leaving Tucson for his residency. Before moving, Shehab " wanted to put together my 'dream band' of local musicians, play a one-off concert of our favorite songs and put the money toward a good cause that would make a local impact." The result is a benefit for Tee Up for Tots, an organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research, at 8 p.m., Friday, March 21, at Plush, featuring Mostly Bears, ...music video? and '90s cover band Outshined, Shehab's "dream band." Tickets are $5.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Ozzfest '97 up in Phoenix. It was hotter than hell, and the tap water was green, but I was 15, and it was Ozzy!

What CDs are in your changer right now?

American Android, Silent Partner; Doubletop, Firewater; Brandi Carlile, Live From Neumo's; Climber, I Dream in Autoplay; and a burned CD of all the songs we're playing on Friday night.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Probably around 500 CDs.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

Both, but I don't download often. I'm a sucker for the artwork and the liner notes.

What was the first album you owned?

I'm proud to say it was MC Hammer's Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

Jeff Buckley's version of "Satisfied Mind."

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I'm a big fan of Sarah McLachlan, but there's no shame in that. I love the Marvelous 3, but sometimes, the lyrics make me cringe.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Stealing the first four Led Zeppelin albums from my parents when I was a kid made me want to play guitar, and hearing ... music video? for the first time made me realize there's more to music than guitar solos.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

It's a tough call between Jeff Buckley's Grace and Pearl Jam's Vs., but I'm gonna have to go with Grace.
