A recent transplant from Chicago, Lee Gutowski is a regular music-biz veteran. She's worked as a publicist for Bloodshot Records and Alligator Records, with a short stint at Premonition Records sandwiched between. She is currently the publicist for Funzalo Records, whose roster of artists includes Tony Furtado, Spookie Daly Pride and The Steepwater Band.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

That'd be Sonny and Cher at Alpine Valley (East Troy, Wis.) when I was in seventh grade.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

I was kinda deejaying a couple nights ago, so maybe that would explain the answer: Wreck Your Life (Old 97s); People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (A Tribe Called Quest); On Your Way Home (Patty Loveless); a live bootleg of a solo Jeff Tweedy show ... and a two-song Fourkiller Flats unreleased demo thingy that kicks total ass.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

I left a bunch of vinyl behind when I moved from Chicago to Tucson, so it's hard to say. ... It's looking like right around 1,000.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

I'm an incorrigible Luddite, so downloading just doesn't enter into the picture.

What was the first album you owned?

I'm pretty sure the first album was a Partridge Family record ... the one with all the squares on the front ... whatever, it was very colorful.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

I've never thought about this. ... I'd end up with some church song like "Amazing Grace" or something, but right now, off the top of my head, I'd say "What a Wonderful World."

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I dunno ... is Blondie anything to be ashamed of? I'm so tame. I just love "Heart of Glass"!

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Bruce Springsteen just totally electrified me when Born to Run came out. It made me listen to the stories in songs. ... I was also way into Elton John. I think he changed my life when he announced he was "bisexual." I didn't even know there was such a thing in 1976!

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

At this moment in time, my favorite album is Westernaire by a band called Milton Mapes ... . It's just absolutely rocking me and breaking my heart simultaneously.
