It is shocking to me that this type of backward, wild west thinking is still going on in America in 2011! The people of Tucson, especially the elected officials, should be ashamed and incensed that they have no more control than this over what goes on at that criminal facility/dog track TGP. It's not just the greyhounds that suffer horribly in Tucson, but also all the humans who work so hard to advocate for them... their cries for help are all ignored by those who are paid to protect and serve them. Tucson will and should be viewed by the rest of the country as nothing more than backward and callous for allowing this cruelty to continue unchecked under the watch of it's elected officials and law enforcement! For shame! Bless those poor suffering greyhounds that have no one to protect them.

    Re: “Ordinance Ignored
This is just another sad instance of the greyhound racing industry thinking they are above the law and deciding to regulate themselves. It is high time for Tuscon officials to step up and do what they are in office to do... enforce the law! What is Tuscon? The old west? Is there no law or enforcment of the law in South Tuscon? The police in South Tuscon have no money? Each and every resident in Tuscon should be worried if that is the truth.

I am shocked and saddened that these dogs continue to suffer at the hands of humans who are determined to exploit them, with or without the law behind them. It is the worst of the worst of our society that abuses animals, and that is exactly what this veterinarian and everyone who uses his services at the South Tuscon Greyhound Park are doing.

End the cruelty and death and close this low class track once and for all. These dogs deserve to be pets just like poodles, yorkies and labs. They do not deserve the horrific treatment they are subjected to at the Tuscon Greyhound Park.

How incredibly sad. Sad for the dogs who actually survived in this filth, and sad that this track is still legally able to operate. It is horrifying to think of what these dogs live through and how some of them die. Isn't is time for us, as a country, to decide that we will no longer tolerate the exploitation and abuse of animals for entertainment? Michael Vicks received jail time and his share of bad press (and rightly so) for the abuse of his dogs which were used for fighting. The numbers of dogs abused daily in the greyhound racing industry far exceeds anything Michael Vicks could do. Isn't it time that this industry be made to pay for their crimes against these dogs? Isn't it time that abuse and neglect of racing greyhounds WAS a crime???
