Tucson Weekly contributor Margaret Regan has now published two books on the undocumented immigrant experience of our border region. Of course we're proud of her accomplishments, and prouder that she continues to contribute to the Weekly's Arts and Culture section every week. This week's cover story is an excerpt of her latest book "Detained and Deported: Stories of Immigrant Families Under Fire." The excerpt kicks off our 2015 Spring Reading Series that continue in April and May, with excerpts from Elizabeth Evans' new book "As Good As Dead," and Ken Lamberton's "Chasing Arizona."

Seems like the perfect time to celebrate book, after all this weekend is the seventh Tucson Festival of Books, a weekend-long celebration of books and those crazy people who love to read and write them that takes place on the UA campus. Margaret will be there to discuss her book and other events going into April (See Page 11 for the book excerpt and her schedule).

Tucson Weekly senior writer Jim Nintzel will also be at the Festival this year, participating in two panel discussions. On Saturday, March 14, he will moderate a conversation on political life in the U.S. with award-winning columnist and author Leonard Pitts, law professor Ian Haney Lopez, and Rick Perlstein, 10 a.m. at Gallagher in the Student Union. On Sunday, March 15, Jim moderates a conversation with former Texas Congressman Mickey Edwards, Carolyn Lukensmeyer, director of the UA's National Institute for Civil Discourse; and millennial experts Steven Olikara and Kari Saratovsky, 11:30 a.m. at ILC, Room 150

I'm returning to the Festival for the Pima County Library's Nuestras Raices, on Saturday, March 14, with Irma Mayorga and Désirée Zamorano in a reading and platica on their new work and discussing their portrayals of Latinas, 4 p.m., in the Koffler building, room 218. The second panel is Sunday, March 15 with celebrated Chicana writer Ana Castillo, who will discuss and read from her new novel "Give it To Me," 1 p.m., in the Koffler building, room 218.
