Dust Devil

I opened the door to the freezing rain,

We haven't seen sun since the autumn came.

I look to the skies and see city lights,

Oh where are the beautiful starry nights?

People are crammed in all the warm places,

An array of stressed out, tired faces.

Indulged in only the passing of time,

Wide open spaces would help soothe their minds.

The wealthy in condos can't own enough,

While gangs on the corners just smoke their stuff.

This is how people live in the city,

Most have no choice – I think it's a pity.

It's vital having stars, sun and some space.

In a warm and a scenic, laid-back place.

Give me a hug and a chilled Corona,

I'm headed on out to Arizona!
