Dancing with Saguaros

You know you love the saguaro, but if you really love them, you dance and celebrate their cactus goodness on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the Human-Saguaro Centennial Ball, from 5 to 7 a.m. at Saguaro National Park West. To help celebrate the National Park Service Centennial at Saguaro National Park, event organizer Kimi Eisele is looking for volunteer performers with some movement agility to participate in this dancehall celebration, captured on video and in photographs, and incorporated into Eisele's Standing with Saguaros performances in the park in November. There are some rules—being out there at sunrise, wearing formal attire (with hiking boots or sneakers), willing to improvise, and attend one info session/rehearsal at La Pilita (420 S. Main Ave.) on Sunday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m. to 12 noon or Monday, Aug. 22, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Questions, email Eisele at standingwithsaguaros@gmail.com or go to the event's Facebook page.
