Valley of the Moon2544 E. Allen Road
Tucson's All Souls Procession has gained national attention over the years as one of the best events of its kind. But did you know there was a smaller version of the parade, one that caters specifically to kids and families?
The Procession of Little Angels has been held on the Saturday before All Souls since 2006, allowing the youngsters to honor loved ones who have died, including pets. And just like All Souls, the event relies on community assistance each year.
To help raise money for the Little Angels procession, organizer Many Mouths One Stomach is holding a spring circus on Saturday at fantasy outpost Valley of the Moon. For four hours this hidden oasis of make-believe will be transformed into a circus, with performers and other entertainment.
"As far as I'm concerned, Valley of the Moon is the perfect space for what we want to do," circus organizer Jhon Sanders said. "It's quite a magical space that lends itself to wonderful experiences."
The circus will have numerous hands-on and join-in-on activities. Many of the performers, including Tucson Circus Arts and Flight School acrobats, will encourage children and others to take part in the demonstrations.
"It's a lot of combos of performance and participation," Sanders said. "It's spring, so let's go outdoors and do something."
Food trucks such as Planet of the Crepes and Peddler on the Path will be on hand, and guests are also encouraged to bring their own food and have a picnic on the grass while enjoying the entertainment. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children 17 and younger.
