Great story great doctor and even a better man. My oldest son was born in Morenci and delivered by Dr. O'leary in 1978. I usually dont comment on FB as I do not even have an account but do read my wife's page. This story hits close to home as several generations of my family and friends were employed by the "company" one thing that bothers me is reference to "Anglos being the scabs" "Mexicans being the strikers" Not true in any form as I have several friends and family both Anglo and Mexican that made tough decisions regarding the situation at the time. My father had been with the company just short of thirty years and refused go cross any picket line as did some of his siblings. Others in the family made different decisions. More than any Anglo-Mexican lines being drawn in the sand it was fathers and sons; brother vs brother uncles cousin's and more. It was truly a life changing time for many families and to this day I harbor some ill feelings toward the great and powerful company for having a huge part in destroying the lives of honest hard working people all in the name of greed and money!!! My father passed a few short years later of heart attack at the ripe old age of 50! guess congrats to the company for winning the strike?!?!?
